2 OHM - 100 WATT power resistor for 12 volt systems.
These resistors have been selected specifically to perform as diversion (dummy) loads in solar/wind/hydro alternate energy systems.
Place multiple resistors in parallel to increase the total wattage. See chart below.
Unlike water heating elements, these resistors do not need to be submerged in water or oil, they will dissipate the incoming energy in free air.
Each of the resistors we sell has been selected based on it's ability to dissipate a very specific amount of power (watts) with a very specific resistance value (ohms), at a very specific voltage. When used as recommended, they will not burn out, even under continuous use.
Please note. These resistors will become hot during normal use, please mount them away from heat sensitive objects and out of the reach of children.
Dimensions: Resistor body 6.5" long x .8" diam. -- 5.85" terminals, center to center, .15" diam terminal hole size.

Area in green is where most diversion controllers would be set to divert.
This 2 ohm resistor will dissapate 7.25 amps at 14.5 volts. This is 105 watts. Since the resistor is rated at 100 watts, this is just high of it's maximum value. However; when lead wire resistance is taken into account, the actual resistance is higher, allowing this resistor to function properly at these voltage levels.
Place multiple resistors in parallel to increase the wattage/amperage.
1 resistor at 14 volts = 98 watts (7 amps).
2 resistors in parallel at 14 volts = 196 watts (14 amps).
3 resistors in parallel at 14 volts = 294 watts (21 amps).
9 resistors in parallel at 14 volts = 882 watts (63 amps) -- You get the picture.
Since many of us often don't want to take a chance on something from a smaller business, and tend to think that big named products are always better. I thought it might help to pass on some of the feedback from those who have purchased this controller in the last couple of weeks.
